A high-quality firearm requires a reliable carry system. Here are the essential rules for selecting and maintaining custom Kydex gear:
IWB (Inside the Waistband) holsters are designed for maximum concealment. For defensive setups, look for claws or wings that actively press the gun grip close to your body to reduce printing.
OWB (Outside the Waistband) holsters are preferred for tactical, duty, or range use. Ensure your belt mounts (clips, loops, or QLS forks) match the width of your shooting belt to prevent shifting during high-speed draws.
Most modern Kydex holsters feature adjustable retention screws near the trigger guard. Turning these screws clockwise increases friction, securing the firearm further. Test your retention by inserting an unloaded firearm, flipping the holster upside down over a bed, and shaking it gently—the gun should remain secure but draw cleanly with a swift upward pull.
